Monday

The temps are a bit chilly today and it seems like it will stay that way throughout the week. I tried to wear anything but this mock turtleneck but with the breeze today I decided I'd rather be safe than sorry. Sad that summer is already on its way out the door.

Sunday Afternoon

Every year Boston's North End hosts St. Anthony's Feast which is so good. Tons of great Italian food, music and culture in one of Boston's most historic neighborhoods. It was a nice way to spend our Sunday afternoon.

Blog Inspired Monday

Today's looked was ripped right out of a post fromFashionUnder100. The overall look and color combination came from Rosario Dawson's look, but I felt a little hesistant in actually putting it together until I saw Christina Ricci's version of the tank/pencil skirt combo and then I knew that I could possibly pull it off.

SYTYCD

This week was the finale of SYTYD, but luckily it will be back this Fall so Cat Deeley could offer up more finds for fashion blogging. Her sequined dress and gladiator heels were by Camilla Skovvgaard.

Thursday

It dawned on my today as I was getting dressed that I should probably explain my work enviorment and dress code. I work for a large national law firm, however our office is pretty relaxed because that's how the mananging partner likes it. My boss comes in wearing Hawaiian shirts, khakis and boat shoes. Obviously, for Court appearances he goes super corporate. And when our office hosts meetings and depositions, everyone is sure to be wearing a suit. But the nice part about my job is that I could go to every extreme, causual, super causual, semi-professional or even bust out that skirt suit I love so much. It also allows me to express myself through my outfits, feel and dress my age, and not be confied to a strict dress code policy by having to wear a suit everyday. I feel bad for some of my friends that work in environments when during the summer months they are forced to wear pantyhose with their open-toed shoes. Poor things! Anyways, this explains why some days I'm dressed more conservatively than others just in case anyone was wondering.

Wednesday

One of the cool things about blogging is that you get inspiration from other bloggers. Today's outfit was inspired by Londyn at BlogFashion. In her July 25th post she wore a nautical-themed outfit and this was my rendition of the same color scheme (red, white and blue). Thanks for the inspiration Londyn!

I Should Know Better....

So there will be no post today because I made a bad wardrobe choice that only hit me late this afternoon. I should know better by now to be more aware of my body and what looks good on me and what doesn't. Today in my mad rush to get ready for work, I picked a great pair of plaid "city" shorts, some Coach flats and then ruined it all with my top. It's too tight, its ill fitting and cuts me at all the wrong places. Lucikly, I was super busy at work so that it took my mind off the wardrobe mishap. But by the time the clock ticked closer to 5pm, I was reminded once again about how wrong it all was. Moral of the story: Listen to your body, know what fits and what looks best on you and most importantly, never pick anything out in a rush unless its a tried-and-true outfit; if not, trust me you will regret it later :)

Monday

This a a go-to summer favorite. A simple jersey dress that feels so good to wear.

* black short sleeve jersey dress - American Rag Co. * strappy black espadrille - Colin Stuart

Sunday Funday

I went to a B-Boy Battle on Sunday so I had to make sure I was dressed comfy and that I fit in with the hip-hop back packer crowd, so that meant no cute shoes, pumps or skirts...lol. We'll save those for another day. I love these boyfriend jeans but don't get a chance to wear them often because we live a fashion world that revolves around everything being a skinny fit or tight. I love them.

* boyfriend jeans - American Eagle * green/white striped tank - Target
* black sneakers - Converse Chuck Taylors

The Ugly Dress...

In my Cat Deeley post the other day, I mentioned how I wasn't able to get a picture of the dress she wore on Thursday's results show. I did mention how ugly I thought it was though. Well here it is in all its gaudiness. The dress is vintage, paired with Sonia Rykiel shoes. I will say the color looks good on her, but its the shoulder pads that I really can't get passed.
